Tommy Lasorda

Tommy LasordaTommy Lasorda is a former Major League baseball player and manager. He has been involved with The Brooklyn / Los Angeles Dodgers organization for more than 60 years.

That’s the longest non continuous tenure anyone has had with the team (he played one season with the Kansas City Athletics), edging Dodger broadcaster Vin Scully by a single season.

He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame as a manager in 1997.

There is a very good article about him on WikiPedia here, and he’s on Twitter here.

Thomas Charles Lasorda was born on September 22, 1927, in Norristown, Pennsylvania.
