Students Run LA

Students Run LA logoStudents Run LA mission is to challenge at-risk secondary students in the training for and completion of the Honda LA Marathon.

It all started in 1986, when a continuation high school teacher in East Los Angeles finished the first Los Angeles Marathon and felt personally transformed by the experience. He challenged his students, to train with him for the next Marathon and also change their lives.

These young people, labeled misfits and under-achievers, finished the Marathon next year, and went on to finish high school and went to college and jobs.

That was the beginning of Students Run LA, who have expanded year on year, and continue to do some excellent work for under-privileged kids.
