Founded in 2011 by Meredith Phillips and Kyo Yamashiro, The Los Angeles Education Research Institute (LAERI) aims to bring practical, rigorous, independent research to focus on the issues facing students, teachers, administrators, and policymakers.
Their aim is to become a trusted partner in Los Angeles County students educational outcomes. To this end, all LAERI researchers must sign a “no-surprises” policy agreement. School district leaders and other stakeholders are then able to review and comment on findings before they are made public.
LAERI identifies aims to communicate research findings to make results more tangible, practical, and actionable.
They are a nonpartisan organization driven by objective analysis above ideology. Their independence enables them to provide education policymakers with the analysis they need to make more informed decisions.
