Griffith Observatory is non-profit space observatory located in Griffith Park that provides the public with information on astronomy and related sciences.
Griffith Observatory is amongst other things a civic gathering place, and one of southern California’s most popular attractions.
Apart from the observatory, there are other viewing attractions such as an original Tesla Coil.
It is located on the southern slope of Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park, just above the Los Feliz neighborhood. At 1,134 feet above sea level, it is visible from many parts of the Los Angeles basin.
Admission to the Observatory building and grounds are currently FREE, however there is a nominal charge to see shows in the Samuel Oschin Planetarium.
